Grips

Grip style, texture, tackiness & especially size are often overlooked factors in the decision making process with new clubs. Well fitted golf clubs can be held back from performing at their best if the grip is not given due consideration.

Like shafts & clubheads there is a huge choice of grips to select from; whether it’s a straight taper, wrap style, cord, ribbed, dual density etc. and that’s before we get onto what size suits an individual golfer the best.

Part of the fitting process at ‘Custom Fitted Golf Clubs’ is to measure you for hand size & finger length. That gives us a starting point for your correct grip size. What we also take into account is your shot pattern & of course what feels comfortable to you.

Grips come in different shapes as well, obviously putter grips will vary the most but grips for woods & irons are not always round in their cross section. The rules of golf don’t allow for a grip to be shaped to your hand but they do allow for a rib down the length of the grip (usually down the back) as long as the rib doesn’t take the cross section more than 1mm out of round. That doesn’t sound much but a lot of golfers prefer the feel of that slightly oval shape.
